On February 26/Wednesday/ 2021 was held the third of the series of webinars for the participants in the Initiative for building the future generation of civic society leaders of Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation /WCIF/. The topic of the online training this time was "Accountability and Transparency of NGOs", led by Iliyana Nikolova - Executive Director of WCIF.

The training was focused on the importance for an organization to support its activities with several founding documents:

Code of conduct
Accounting policy
Policy for avoiding conflict of interests
Code of Ethics

Valuable advice was provided related to the preparation of these documents. Through them, each organisation can declare its responsibility to the public and demonstrate the structuring and operationalisation of its activities.

It was made clear that organisations working for public benefit should not use lobbying, but should promote their values and try to increase people's sensitivity to significant topics.

The online meeting ended with questions from the participants and an assignement that they must develop the Code of Ethics of their organizations.
The webinar focused on the most important principles for the management of civic organisations in the context of a shrinking space for civil society and the increasing radicalisation of ever wider sections of the population.

The training is part of the project "The Initiative for building the future generation of civic organizations leaders" implemented by Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF). The project is implemented with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) 2014-2021, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway
