Within the framework of the mentors’ support program of the project " Initiative for building the next generation of civic organizations’ leaders", a training was held in the town of Lovech for social work specialists, who are part of the Community Support Center of the Association "Civic Initiatives".

The training became a fact thanks to the work of one of the mentors of the project - Alexander Milanov, who is mentoring one of the participants in the second edition of the Initiative - Milena Marinova, who manages the social unit.

When planning the activities aimed to support Milena's leadership capacity development, as well as assessing her skills to develop teams, it became clear that training on the principles of social work, time management and building good teamwork would be useful for her and all her colleagues.

In two consecutive training days the specialists from the Community Support Centre went through an intensive course in which different theories on personal development, social work and case management, supervision in social work, as well as effective teamwork and effective time management were presented. The module on planning and time management was delivered by Nadezhda Savova, a trainer with many years of experience in developing soft skills programs for teams and organizations, both in Bulgaria and abroad.

„I am convinced that effective work with people who need support and care from social work professionals is only possible if the helping professionals are well trained, motivated and supported in this responsible task - to change, together with the people they help, their life path", commented Alexander Milanov, who was also the presenter of the training. Alexander Milanov is a specialist in clinical social work and currently works for the Centre for Clinical Psychology, Psycho-Oncology and Psychosomatics at Adjibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital. He has been supporting the development of foster care in Bulgaria for more than 10 years.

The project " Initiative for building the next generation of civic organizations’ leaders" of the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) is implemented with the financial support of the Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria under the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway
