On May 4th, the fourth training session for Initiative 2 was held, on the topic "Communications and Electronic Media". Journalist Maria Cherneva from BNT participated in the meeting. Several key approaches fundamental to successful communication with our audience and the media were discussed during the webinar.
Some of the highlights that Maria emphasized were:
• Approach to communication with the media;
• Writing non-standard and attractive press releases;
• How to present our organization's mission to our audience;
• Selection of suitable media and communication channels for our goals;
• Individual communication with a particular beat journalist;
• How to attract media attention with short messages.
The meeting was accompanied by a discussion between the participants and Maria, who discussed examples from the journalist's practice, as well as the experience of young leaders in working with the media.
The training is part of the second edition of the "Initiative for Building the Next Generation of Civic Leaders" project by Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation. It is funded by the Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) 2014-2021, provided by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. The project aims to support the development of a new generation of civil leaders in Bulgaria who have the knowledge and skills to work effectively in a shrinking space for civil society and limited resources.
