On December 16, 2021, the second edition of the Initiative for Building a Future Generation of Civic Leaders was launched. The kick-off was given with an introductory meeting between the new 30 youth leaders who will join the capacity building program and representatives of the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation, as implementers of the project.
The meeting took place virtually, on the ZOOM platform, due to the still high number of coronavirus cases and in order to prevent the spread of the infection among the participants. The organizers introduced the young people to the idea of the Initiative and answered the question "What is next?".
In the program of the meeting, time was set aside for the new future leaders to introduce themselves, the organizations they are members of and/or want to establish and the activities they are performing in their daily work routines. What made a strong impression was the wide variety of people and qualities that the Initiative brought together this time. Representatives of organizations working in environmental protection, vulnerable groups, girls' and women's empowerment, sports causes, education and youth activities and policies herald the multiplicity of the launch of the second edition of the Initiative. Iliyana Nikolova, the Executive Director of WCIF, expressed her confidence that interesting months are ahead.
It remains to be seen what the young people are capable of and how their work will influence the civic community in Bulgaria.
The project "Initiative for building a future generation of civic leaders" is implemented with the financial support of the Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA Financial Mechanism) 2014-2021, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
