Vihren Mitev's shared history with ecology began in 2015, when he first became aware of the seriousness of the climate problems and started helping to solve them.
Unlike many other important topics on which people often have differing opinions, the topic of climate change is increasingly difficult to dispute or downplay. Today we are all seeing and experiencing the changes. In recent years, we have seen drastic differences in temperatures, as well as unusual phenomena in the change of seasons.
And if the owners of some of the biggest companies in the world that are most negatively affected by the startling trends do not seem to be listening to the appeals of scientists and environmental organizations, there are people who dedicate their lives to counteracting the negative processes.
We are happy to present one such person, that we have the honor to know personally. Vihren Mitev's shared history with ecology began in 2015 when he first became aware of the seriousness of the climate problems and started helping to solve them.
In 2018 he founded his own organization - the Ecological Manifesto Foundation - MANECO. The mission of the organization is to raise awareness and consciousness among people on issues related to climate change. He participates in many different initiatives and finds supporters who also become part of his team, together they attend international youth trainings, and protests, organize actions, exhibitions, and film screenings.
He is currently actively organizing meetings with young people from all over the country to introduce them to the so-called Climate Fresco. The educational workshop is a team game with 42 cards, each explaining a climate change factor. Thus, through a game-based approach and scientifically presented and processed information, he provided young people with the opportunity to reflect and realize for themselves the seriousness of the climate problem and to engage in action.
Vihren also participated in the second edition of the WCIF project - the Initiative. As he says, his participation in the project confirms his desire to be committed to the cause of his organization and to work for a better future for the next generations. The Project Initiative for building the next generation of civic leaders is implemented with the financial support of Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway under the Active Citizens Fund Bulgaria within the framework of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area. The main objective of the project is an accumulation of knowledge, and skills and creating the conditions for transfer of experience to young leaders of civic organizations. The project is implemented by the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation.
